RULES OF GOLF
All play shall follow the USGA Rules Of Golf and any posted local rules for the specific course. BHGC Local Rules, if applicable will be specified prior to the tournament.
If in doubt on the golf course regarding any rule, play a second ball for a later ruling by BHGC Management.
All putts must be made, no exception.
There is no relief for balls in a bunker other than situations covered in the USGA Rules Of Golf
READY TO PLAY
BHGC does not require players to check in. However, a player not on the tee box and ready to play at their tee time will receive a 2 stroke penalty.
If a player joins their group after they have teed off and more than 5 mins after their tee time, that player is no longer eligible for Low Gross, Low Net and Golfer Of The Year points for that event. They are still eligible for skins games.
REFUNDS
If a player withdraws from an event more than 14 days in advance they will receive a refund.
A player withdrawing less than 14 days in advance of the event will receive a refund if the event is full and we are able to replace you.
All refunds will be assessed a fee which covers the credit card processing costs, minimum of $5.
TEES
Players in our Net games will be assigned a default tee but can switch to a preferred tee if requested more than 24 hours in advance of the event.
Players in our Gross games must play from the assigned tees.
DIVISIONS
The majority of our events will have Gross and Net Divisions but in smaller events we may just have one division and depending on the handicap distribution we may apply Gross Beats Net to the skins game.
HANDICAP LIMIT
In Skins Games, players in our Net games will receive a maximum of 1 stroke per hole even if their GHIN index gives them a course handicap of more than 18.
CLUB INDEX
To help ensure fair competition in BHGC net events, the club maintains a BHGC Club Index based solely on scores posted in BHGC tournaments.
Each qualifying BHGC tournament score is converted into a Score Differential using the Course Rating and Slope Rating for the course and tees played. A player’s Club Index is then calculated as follows:
After 1–3 BHGC rounds: lowest 1 Score Differential
After 4-5 BHGC rounds: average of the lowest 2 Score Differentials
After 6 or more BHGC rounds: average of the lowest 3 Score Differentials from the player’s most recent 6 BHGC rounds
For players with 1–3 BHGC rounds, the Club Index may not be more than 1.0 lower than their current GHIN Handicap Index.
After 4 or more BHGC rounds, the Club Index may not be more than 2.0 lower than their current GHIN Handicap Index.
For BHGC competitions, the lower of the player’s current GHIN Handicap Index and BHGC Club Index will be used. A Club Index will never increase a player’s handicap above their current GHIN Handicap Index.
The Club Index will be updated as additional BHGC tournament scores are recorded. BHGC reserves the right to review and adjust this policy as the system develops
GOLFER OF THE YEAR
BHGC will maintain Golfer Of The Year Standings based on the Top 10 Low Net standings in each event with 10 points being awarded for 1st place, 9 points for 2nd place etc. The season ends at the last event in July each year. The GOTY winner will receive a $1K gift card and a free round of golf at a top private club.
ACE POT
The Ace Pot is only open to BHGC Full Members
Entry is $50 paid by Venmo to @dermot-connell
On the day of the event, entry to the Ace Pot is closed once a player in the first group has teed off.
Temporary greens are not eligible for the Ace Pot
If multiple hole-in-ones happen on the same day, the Ace Pot is split.
